What Are The Big Deals From Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon.com’s two-day Prime Day event will arrive on June 21–22 this year, with other major retailers like Walmart joining in on the action with their own sales. But the summer discounts offered by Amazon and its competitors may not match the kind of door busting sales that are typically available before the holidays, market experts say.
The discounts offered to shoppers during the Prime Day event are typically below 10%. Even though Amazon Prime day may not have the best savings compared to other holidays like Cyber Monday, 6 out of 10 people plan on taking out their wallet and buying off of Amazon over the next few days.
Based on last year’s discounts experts predict the best savings will be on toys and electronics, with the average discounts being 8–10% off. The items to avoid thinking you will save the most money will be in the sports department. Last year the average discounts were only 1.2%.
Why is Prime in June? When CEO Jeff Bezos started Prime it was July of 2015, and it continued to be in July until the pandemic hit in 2020. In 2020 Prime was postponed until October over Covid and staffing concerns. Experts are predicting the reason why Prime is in June this year is because historically the second quarter is much slower for retailers.
Amazon’s competitors are also getting in on the action. Walmart is running a promotion called “Deals For Days”. Walmart’s promotion is running longer than Amazon’s, their deals promoting running from June 20th until June 23rd. Some of the deals Walmart is offering are in the electronics section. For example, the IHome Nova Auto Empty Mopping Robot is marked down to $299,. This product is usually sold at $599.
Best Buy is running “the Bigger Deal” sale until Tuesday. Some of their biggest deals are in the home essentials. For example, the Insignia front loading washer is marked down to $499, which saves the buyer $200.
Target is also running a promotion called “Deal Days” from June 20th until the 22nd. Some of the biggest deals from Target are on furniture items. On select items you can save up to 25%.
Experts are predicting that Amazon will give steep discounts on items that are made by Amazon like the Kindle and the Echo Smart Speaker. Experts say other items to look out for are in the kitchen department like Instant Pots, Coffee makers, vacuums and headphones
Experts do warn that even though the big ticket items may seem to be on electronics TVs and gaming consoles, prices may not change due to chip shortages around the world and because of an increased demand for those items.
Amazon already has promotions running on a few items, like $50 off Apples Series 6 GPS apple watch, Along with $150 off of Sharks’s AI Robot (model RV2001). Amazon said it will give Prime members a 10-dollar promotional credit if they spend $40 or more in select Prime-branded Amazon Gift Cards from June 2 through June 20.
If you live in Canada or India Amazon said that Prime is delayed due to increasing concerns of Covid-19, unlike the United States.
