Friday the FDAs independent advisory panel said if you got the COVID-19 vaccine from Johnson and Johnson you should get a booster shot.
Friday the panel met to continue discussions of booster shots this time they focused on Johnson and Johnson. For the 15 million Americans that got the booster you could be getting the vaccine booster soon.
The panel says you should get the booster 2 months after the original vaccine. Unlike Moderna and Pfizer the panel is recommending Johnson and Johnson for everyone over the age of 18.
Now these recommendations go to the FDA for approval of the recommendations then if they ae approved from there they go to the CDC. At the CDC a panel looks over the recommendations to approve or deny them. We expect to hear from the CDC if they are going to approve them or not later this week or early next week.
The White House Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Facui said Sunday in an ABC interview. “I think that they should feel good about it because what the advisors to the FDA felt, is that given the data that they saw, very likely, this should have been a two-dose vaccine to begin with.”
The FDA panel also discussed the potential of mixing and matching vaccines but they did not come to any conclusions.
