Deadly Shooting In Boulder Colorado
On Monday Afternoon, around 2:30pm, a shooter opened fire at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado. Boulder is a small town with a population of 100,000 people.
According to police, it left 10 people dead and 15 injured. 7 of those were children and one an officer that was patrolling the area. Police believe they have the gunman in custody and had the grocery store surrounded shortly after.
There is a press conference at 8 am, where we expect the police department to release more information about the gunman. There are still some questions up in the air of possible motive, any prior criminal charges, and what type of gun was used.
Because of this event, gun control will be looked at more closely by Colorado officials. At this time, Colorado does not have statewide gun laws. it goes county by county. Recently the district court judge, Andrew Hartmann, said, “…only Colorado State (or federal) law can prohibit the possession, sale and transfer of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.”
Representative Neguse, who represents Boulder Colorado, says there needs to be change and the American people are tired of the excuses.
Clearly at this time there are still a lot of unknowns, and hopefully we will learn more from the press briefing this morning.
