If you thought we were done with these confirmations, then you would be wrong, because we have even more of them to talk about. There has been no change since last time we covered the topic, however, as we are still sitting at 21 out of 23 members being confirmed at the time of writing. Today we will be covering three more of those people who have been confirmed by the Senate.

Xavier Becerra

We start with Xavier Becerra, who was confirmed on March 18th being tasked as the head of Health and Human services. The vote for Becerra was very slim with a vote of 50–49. Becerra is a veteran in Washington DC. He has served in the House of Representatives for over 25 years. While in the House he was part of the House committee overseeing health issues. This will be the first time Becerra serves in a high level health position.

Isbel Guzman

Next is Isabel Guzman, she was nominated to lead the Small Business Association and was confirmed with a vote of 81–17. She served in this role under the Obama Administration and most recently was the director of California’s small business office. This was once a very minor cabinet position, but due to the current pandemic it has left many small businesses struggling to stay afloat. She will be responsible for reviving these businesses and helping to stabilize them.

Micheal S. Regan

Michael S. Regan was confirmed by the Senate on March 10th with a vote of 66–34. Regan is the secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency. Formerly he was North Carolina’s top environmental regulator. In this position he has a lot to accomplish to keep aligned with the Biden Administration. Under the attack on climate change the Biden Administration wants to eliminate carbon dioxide emission from the power grid by 2035.

We have covered all 21 cabinet members that have been confirmed by the Senate thus far. There are only two more members to be confirmed in the president’s Cabinet. Eric Lander was nominated to lead the Office of Science and Technology. The other position was for Office of Management and Budget who hasn’t had a nominee since Nera Tanden withdrew her nomination.
