BREAKING House Jan. 6 committee plans to vote to subpoena Former President Trump
BREAKING — The House select committee investigating the January 6th assault on the United States Capitol plans to vote Thursday during the hearing to subpoena former President Donald Trump.
The vote is expected to take place during the formal committee business meeting the panel convened Thursday afternoon. During this meeting, all nine members of the committee are delivering presentations about the Trump campaign and his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Representative Bennie Thompson who happens to be the chairman of the committee told reporters before the hearing that the committee has “not ruled out” subpoenaing the former president. In the opening statements, the chairman said that the committee during the meeting has the right to vote during the official business meeting.
This action by the committee is a drastic uptick in action taken to investigate the January 6th attacks on the United States Capitol. The panel conducted over 1,000 interviews and depositions including a wide range of former White House officials and campaign aids.
The committee has been open about asking the former Vice President to appear before the panel but did not yet make an official decision.
