Border wall construction begins again

The Department of Homeland Security is going back to construction along the border wall. The Biden Administration announced last week the DOHS is taking up several projects along the border wall between the United States and Mexico.

The Department of Homeland Security are doing things like closing small gaps in the actual wall that remain opened and unfinished from prior construction. Completing and installing drainage along the border to prevent flooding and litigating soil pollution. Completing the prior construction of petrol maintenance and access roads used by border control agents. Finally getting rid of the leftover building materials from the project.

As soon as President Biden was sworn into office he stopped all Trump era border wall activities. Since then the Department of Defense and the Army Corps of Engineers have been canceling and closing down those border wall contracts.

The project being shut down has left a lot of stuff unfinished and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says that the unfinished work has left some dangerous conditions for those who live along the border and the border control agents that work along the border.

These projects will begin in the New Year and the border control will work in the San Diego, El Centro, Yuma, Tucson, El Paso, Del Rio sectors.

Also important to note that the Biden Administration is continuing to face several lawsuits from environmental groups over the border wall construction. These lawsuits say this causes significant damage to the environment and wildlife.

According to the Trump Administration between 2017 and 2020 border control says 430 miles of border wall system was built; the majority wasn’t new wall construction instead it was much needed replacement for existing barriers.
